It makes complete sense to us that Veterans Day is in the same month as Thanksgiving. After all, the subject of the first holiday is certainly a reason to give thanks.
During the past week we have witnessed several ceremonies for, stories of, and displays of gratitude toward our country's veterans. All of them have been heartwarming.
This country could not exist without the willingness of so many to serve, even to death. Sometimes this precious gift seems unfathomable, particularly to those who were never in the military. How could someone be willing to risk their lives for the rest of us? It is a gift that is immeasurable and can never be repaid. Our words of thanks, our ceremonies, our awards, and our dinners are wonderful, but they will never be sufficient.
Thank you isn't enough, but still we offer it, freely . . . thanks to you.
