Valley - HHS - Cameron
In a tune up for the Region I Section II tournament, the Valley Lumberjills defeated Cameron, 25-14 and 25-15, and won over Hundred, 25-23 and 26-24, in a triangular match Oct. 22 at Cameron. Valley dropped a match to Hundred, 15-25.
Jessica Ashcraft tallied 10 points, two aces, three dinks, and drilled three spikes, while Justine Miller and Sarah Bassett each netted nine markers, including a pair of service aces. Miller added one spike and one dig, while Bassett contributed five spikes, four sets, two dinks, and one dig.
In addition, Brittany Sivert and Brittany Haught each recorded seven markers and an ace, while netting four dinks, three sets, and two spikes. Haught would add three sets, two dinks, and two digs. Ali Haught followed with six markers, six dinks, one dig, and one block. Erin Brown came off the bench to contribute two points and one dink.
In the match with Hundred, the "Jills would take care of the first match by a close 25-23 before the Lady Hornets fought back to win the second set going away, 15-25. The 'Jills would prevail 26-24 in overtime in a barnburner.
Ashcraft made 67 sets, while scoring 11 points, one ace, one dig, one spike, and made 10 digs to pace a very hot Valley Lumberjill team. Bassett tallied a game-high 13 points, that included three aces. She also had nine spikes, four dinks, and four sets, while Sivert provided 12 points, two aces, 13 spikes, eight dinks, four sets, and made one dig.
In addition, Ashcraft and Brittany Haught both netted 11 points and one ace, with Ashcraft contributing 67 sets, 10 digs, one dig, and one spike. Haught added six spikes, two digs and one dink. Miller and Ali Haught each provided eight points, with Miller adding three spikes, two digs, and two dinks, while Haught belted 10 spikes, nine dinks, and made eight sets.
Brown came off the bench to add two points and one spike, while Sammi Roberts and Cassidy Price teamed for four points, three sets, three digs, and two spikes.
For the Lady Hornets, Emily Ebert came alive to provide a game-high 17 points, two kills, and one block, while Paige Shriver added 16 points, three digs, and made two blocks. Andrea Nagy and Shelly Cork teamed for 20 points and two blocks, while Allie Hayes added nine points and Meliah Umstead made three blocks.
Hundred won its second match of the season in late October, beating Cameron in straight sets, 25-17 and 25-15. Hayes had a team-high 14 points, while Ebert added 11 markers. Nagy and Cork shared 14 points and two digs, while Nagy added one block and three kills. Shriver contributed four points, four kills, and four digs, while Umstead followed with two digs for the Lady Hornets.
