‘Jacks Drop Homecoming Tilt

By Staff | Oct 10, 2012

Valley Lumberjack Trey Street rushed for 126-yards and scored a touchdown, but it wasn’t enough to deny Bellaire St. John a 42-20 victory Oct. 5 at Tom West Field on Homecoming night.

Before the game kicked off, Ashton Irvin was crowned the 2012 Valley High School Homecoming Queen.

Spencer Mason tallied the game’s first touchdown with a one-yard plunge, but St. John answered with four straight touchdowns before Street galloped 65 yards to paydirt in the third period to stop the bleeding.

The Irish would add two more touchdowns before Valley’s Thomas West hauled in a Street seven-yard TD reception and Peyton Palmer converted all extra-point kicks.

Besides Streets’ heroics, Mason added 53 yards and scored a touchdown, while Liam Midcap netted 22 yards and T. C. Long marked up 10-yards rushing. Through the air, Valley was 1-4 with one interception and one touchdown.

Defensively, Troy Hubbard paced the ‘Jacks with nine tackles, while Midcap and Long each recorded seven tackles.

The Lumberjacks are looking for their second victory of the season Friday night when they travel to Frontier High School. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
