Logan Cosper tallied 20 points from her service position, including three aces, while making 87 sets with 28 assists and three digs. But, it wasn't enough to defeat the Bridgeport Lady Bulldogs went on to win in straight sets, 19-25, 23-25 and 23-25.
Taylor Parsons followed with 12 service points, that included an ace. Parsons also contributed five digs, while Myrah "Sparky" Charkawi served up 11 points that included a trio of aces. She also made 15 digs. Josie Fox netted 10 points for the 'Cats, while slamming home two kills and making six digs.
In addition, Graeson Baker put up seven points, three kills and eight digs, while Sydney Blatt nailed down five kills.
Logan Cosper netted a game-high 16 service points and added 37 assists on 91 sets to power the Paden City Lady Wildcats to victory over the Toronto Lady Red Knights in a tri-match at Linsly High School Sept. 20.
The 'Cats lost the opening set 20-25 before taking the second set 26-24 setting up the best of three matches. Paden City would take it to the Lady Knights 25-19 to capture the opening match in a tri-match with Toronto and Linsly.
Following Cosper in the scoring column was Charkawi with 14 points that included a service ace, eight digs and five kills. Parsons and Taylor Cosper each netted 11 points, with Parsons drilling 17 kills and 10 digs, while Taylor added seven digs.
In addition, Fox contributed nine points, and four digs, while Pierce and Hizer dropped in eight and four kills, respectively.
Charkawi and Baker teamed for 26 service points and seven aces to lead Paden City against the Lady Cadets in straight sets, 25-7 and 25-22.
Fox and Taylor Cosper followed with a combined 17 points, Taylor Cosper made 10 assists on 16 sets, while Fox added five digs and one kill. In addition, Hizer, Pierce and Logan Cosper each recorded two points, while Parsons netted one service point. Blatt, Pierce, Parsons and Hizer each blasted away multiple kills.
The Lady Pilots ran into a buzzsaw in New Matamoras Sept. 19, as the Frontier Lady Cougars clawed their way to a 11-25, 22-25 and 20-25 victory in straight sets.
Annie Turner paced the Pilots with 11 service points, including four aces, while adding two digs and 22 assists. Jensen Caretti was again tough as nails around the net, blocking three shots and plating a dozen kills.
Hannah Jones led all scorers with 12 points, three aces and 20 digs, while Mackenzie Wade netted six points and added a pair of digs. Mikayla Roberts tacked on five points that included a service ace, while the combination of Tiffany Connors and Mikayla Cieszeski accounted for seven kills and a pair of digs.
The Lady Pilots swept the season series over the Lumberjills, winning 17-25, 12, 25 and 16-25 Sept. 21 at Valley High School.
Jones and Curtis teamed for 21 points, including 10 picture-perfect service aces to lead the Lady Pilot attack. Turner added eight points, one service ace, two kills, seven digs and made 22 assists, while the "Big Bopper," Jensen Caretti, drilled 10 kills, including one off a 'Jill defender's face. She also blocked four 'Jill shots.
In addition, Marshall pounded nine kills, while Cieszeski and Connors added six and two kills, respectively. Marshall also had five blocks, while Wade tallied all three of her points on service aces and made three digs.
For the Lumberjills, Brittany Sivert netted 10 points, two aces, 12 spikes, and six digs, while Ali Haught contributed 10 points, three aces, three sets, 11 spikes and six digs to pace the much improved 'Jills.
Jessica Ashcraft had 51 sets, six points, one service ace and seven digs, while Brittany Haught tallied 10 points, one ace, four sets, four spikes, three dinks and made 16 digs. In addition, Justine Miller recorded seven points, one ace, one set, two dinks, six digs and belted eight spikes. Whitney Haught provided four points, four dinks, three digs, and made three spikes.
The 'Jills will go on the road Sept. 27 to face the Clay-Battelle Cee-Bees, while the Lady Pilots travel to Wheeling tonight against the Linsly School.
The Valley Lumberjills used 15 service aces in three strong matches against the Cameron Dragons, winning in straight set, 25-12, 25-10, Sept. 11 at Valley High School.
Lumberjill hitter Brittany Haught scored a game-high 24 points, while Jessica Ashcraft added 17 points to pace the fired-up Lumberjills.
In addition, back row hitter Brittany Sivert netted 10 points, while Hannah Loy sank nine. Justine Miller and Ali Haught each contributed six points.
