The Paden City Alumni Association will present the Distinguished Alumni Award to the 2012 recipient, Brian Feldmeier, during halftime activities of the annual Homecoming football game on Friday. The Paden City Wildcats will be playing the Cameron Dragons. Kickoff of the game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and the halftime ceremony will also include the crowning of Paden City High School's Homecoming queen. The Homecoming Parade will precede the football game.
Feldmeier, a member of the PCHS Class of 1985, is being honored for his extraordinary humanitarian efforts through his mission work in Honduras. The Distinguished Alumni Award is the highest award given each year by the association and is normally presented during Alumni Weekend festivities each July. However, the devastating storm that struck on June 29 caused many of the alumni activities to be cancelled or postponed. The committee chose Homecoming weekend to honor Feldmeier with the presentation of his award. The usual DAA reception for Feldmeier will be held next July as part of Alumni Weekend 2013.
A spokesman for the committee commented, "With Brian's busy schedule, we felt it best to have the presentation now and hold the more formal reception in July. We wanted to make sure we set aside ample time to carry out the honor in a fitting manner. It is part of the annual Alumni weekend schedule and we want as many alumni and friends as possible to be able to attend and honor Brian for his wonderful humanitarian work."
