‘Jills Win 1-3 Matches

All six of the home-standing Lumberjill senior volleyball players scored in double figures, as Valley defeated East Richland in its season opener, 25-21, 27-25, and 25-22 in three straight sets.

Hannah Loy paced the 'Jills with a career-high 17 points that included four service aces, a pair of kills, and a block. Brittany Sivert came out with a solid match, scoring 16 points that included two service aces.

In addition, Justine Miller and Jessica Ashcraft each netted a dozen points, with Miller adding three kills. Both players included a pair of service aces, while Sivert and Ali Haught each tallied 10 points. In addition, Haught marked up a pair of aces and paced the 'Jills with a game-high 11 kills, and added a block, while Sivert added two service aces, and brought down the house with seven kills.

Weirton Madonna took care of Valley in three straight sets, 25-9, 25-15, and 25-21 Sept. 6 in Pine Grove.

Loy and Ali Haught shared 20 points to pace the Lady 'Jills' offense, with Haught blasting a team-high 10 kills, while adding 10 digs, eight sets, six blocks, and made an ace. Loy added six kills, six dinks, five digs, five sets, and made two blocks.

In addition, Brittany Haught tallied nine points, made 11 dinks, nine kills, six digs, and had two sets, while Sivert added six points, 11 dinks, nine kills, six digs, and made two sets.

Miller and Ashcraft shared 10 points, while Ashcraft made 55 sets, nine dinks, eight dinks, and scored an ace. Miller tallied six digs and made one dig and had a service ace.

The Lumberjills succumbed to the Beallsville Lady Blue Devils in four sets, 22-25, 10-25, 25-19, and 16-25 Sept. 10 in Pine Grove.

Ashcraft and Miller each paced the 'Jills with 14 points. Ashcraft added 46 sets and 10 dinks, while Miller smacked two kills and made one dig.

Sivert and Brittany Haught teamed for 22 points, 25 digs, with Sivert adding eight kills, while Haught added 12 digs and three dinks. Loy followed with 10 points, five kills, and five dinks, while Ali Haught accounted for nine points, 13 kills, nine dinks, and made four blocks.
