The Lady swatters of Magnolia split their volleyball season opener, losing the to the Lady Zeps of Shenandoah, 17-25 and 16-25 and winning the finale to Union Local, 21-25, 25-19 and 15-7.
Against Shenandoah, Magnolia's Kiera Standiford and Audrey Gibb combined for 15 points, while Lauren Cline, Erinn Clegg and Mallory Chapman each tallied five points. Cline added a game-high 35 sets, while Clegg contributed five digs and Chapman tacked on 10 digs and a team-high seven kills. Emily Clegg followed with three points.
In the Union Local match, Cline led all scorers with 16 points. She also added 25 sets and three digs. Chapman and Erinn Clegg evenly split 24 points. Chapman had a monster game at the net, making seven kills and blocking six Jet shots. Gibb netted 10 points, while Standiford and Emily Clegg added seven and six points, respectively.
Other Lady Eagles contributing spot time on the floor included Hillary Feldmeier, Ashley Moore, Katie Blatt and Abby Durig.
The Lady Eagles will travel to New Matamoras to play the lady Frontier Cougars tonight at 5:30 p.m. Magnolia fans can catch the girls at the HammerDome on Sept. 13 when they host the River Pilots at 6 p.m.
