From Lucille Blum

August 15, 2012
Wetzel Chronicle

As a very young child some 70 years ago, I vividly recall my father, Bernie Fauber, and Mayor Robert Bruce, sitting on our front porch discussing the plans for Bruce Park and Pool. The facility has served our city well since that time. During my recent term as mayor of New Martinsville,

I was privileged to work with Beverly Gibb and to attend the regular meetings of the New Martinsville Parks and Recreation Commission. The plans for Bruce Park resulted from months of planning, meetings, and discussions. Beverly Gibb was outstanding as our guide through the process to complete the proposed Bruce Park Preliminary Master Plan.

The Wetzel Chronicle reported the plan on the front page of the Feb. 23, 2011, issue. Since that time, work has continued so that the initial changes will begin in the near future.

I want to express my sincere gratitude to the Parks and Recreation Commission for recognizing the need for changes and renovation in our parks. Beverly Gibb was the leader in the process. Thank you Beverly.

Sincerely,

Lucille Blum

New Martinsville
