John J. Mensore, a familiar face to valley residents, will take the stage at the second Coffeehouse Series concert sponsored by ArtsLink on July 28. The free concert will be presented at 7 p.m. at the Lincoln Theater in downtown New Martinsville. Mensore's performance will feature the all the popular songs you love, and light refreshments will be provided. As a special treat, Clare and Bartolo Cannizzaro, owners and directors of ADTA, The Academy for Dance and Theatre Arts in New Martinsville, will also appear throughout the performance. They will perform to a selection of Mensore's songs with a variety of dance styles. Clare and Bartolo opened ADTA last year after touring for many years with different dance and theatrical production companies around the world and are looking forward to having a chance to perform for this community.
Mensore, the son of musical parents who encouraged his talent at a very young age, has been a generous supporter of ArtsLink since its inception. He has performed at numerous venues in recent years, including churches, Rotary Conferences, Ebert Brothers concerts, and local fairs and/or celebrations. Over the course of his 65-year singing career he has sung at schools, talent shows, WTRF television, and various nightclubs. He states that his favorite songs are those made famous by Perry Como, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, and Tony Bennett. Mensore is especially proud of the "Ambassador of Music" award presented to him by West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin in recognition of his lengthy singing career.
