It's hard to believe that just next week will bring the Fourth of July -the holiday that most certainly marks the birthday of our nation, but also that marks the middle of our year, our summer, our time of lazy outdoor pursuits. It's the classic time for picnics, swimming, and of course celebrations!
That brings us to how we are thankful for the many local celebrations that take place this time of year. Namely, we're glad Hundred's Independence Day Celebration will once again be feted. It was in danger of coming to an end, if a few volunteers hadn't taken up the task.
If you've never attended their festivities, may we suggest you go this year? It is always a wonderful, down-home event that brings smiles, handshakes, and hugs -maybe even to those who aren't from the area. The parade of classic cars, youth sports teams, and more is followed by pageants, food, music, and of course games. Where else could you earn an award for holding a hoe straight out from your side the longest?! Perhaps only in Hundred.
Don't miss the festivities July 7.
