From Steve Conlon

Fortunately , the county commissioners had no comment on Senator Manchin's anti EPA agenda. The scope of the commission's job description is pretty narrow and they certainly don't regulate or oversee the air and waters of these United States. Even if they did, the road to making a making an educated decision requires a lot of study.

Editors, on the other hand, have it easy. Take a subject, pick a side, and write it out. That's what is expected. You don't have to study up on mercury or ash depositories or acid mine drainage or Upper Big Branch or burying 2,000 streams or subsidence or air quality. At the end of the day, it's just another opinion.

Maybe the county commissioners realize that if there is in fact a War on Coal, that our friends the "gas guys" are the number one enemy.
