Troy M. Richman, 50, of HC 61 Box 170A, New Martinsville, has been charged with felony malicious wounding to have occurred on June 4 at approximately 11 p.m. Richman was at the Country Roads Inn on state Route 7. "He became involved in an altercation with Joe Lasure inside the bar and it moved into the parking lot," says the criminal complaint. "During the fight Troy Richman stabbed or cut Joe Lasure multiple times, causing severe life-threatening injuries." Richman reportedly fled the scene on foot and aid was rendered to Lasure by witnesses who transported him to Wetzel County Hospital and he was later taken by helicopter to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. New Martinsville Sheriff James Hoskins reports that the knife used was a sharp, folding carpenter's knife and that Lasure's injuries required staples. A preliminary hearing before Magistrate Tom Shepherd is set for June 14 at 9:30 a.m. Bond was set at $25,000.
Another incident occurred late Thursday night around 10 p.m. on Hoyt Ridge. A group of road workers were working on the road when two people allegedly drove by in a vehicle and sprayed a white powdery substance on to the road workers. One flagger began bleeding after he was hit in the nose with what was later to be found as a fire extinguisher. At first, it was undetermined as to what the powdery substance was though, so all six workers were decontaminated at the scene.
