Memorial Day services are planned in both New Martinsville and Paden City.
In New Martinsville American Legion Marne Post 28 will hold ceremonies at the following times and places: 10 a.m., Greenlawn Cemetery; 10:30 a.m., across the street to the mausoleum; 10:50 a.m., Williams Cemetery; 11:20, at the Ohio?River Bridge; and noon, Walker Cemetery.
The Paden City Park and Pool Commission, the American Legion Family of Paden City Post #86, and Sistersville Combined Honor Guard will hold Memorial Day Services on May 28. The American Legion Post #86 will hold services at Paden Memorial Gardens beginning at 10 a.m. American Legion Post #86 Commander Bill Anderson will be in charge of the ceremonies.
The park and pool commission will have a program at the stage in the Paden City Park at 11 a.m. Richard Johnson is the coordinator. Evangelist Jeff White will give the invocation and Mayor Bill Fox will be the main speaker. Shelly Champion Blankenship will provide musical entertainment.
The American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, and Sons of the American Legion Post #86 will flag veterans' graves at Paden Memorial Gardens on May 23 during the evening. Flags will be available for those who wish to place flags on the graves at other cemeteries at the Paden City recorder's office during business hours on May 23, 24, and 25, while supplies last.
