Wheeling Central, 67
Paden City, 41
The Maroon Knights of Wheeling Central came to town on Feb. 17, thinking to overwhelm the home team at Bob Burton Gymnasium. The 'Cats, however, held their own for the majority of the game. Though they were on the short end of the 67-41 score at the end of the game, they turned in a good performance and did not allow their opponents to become unreachable.
The tone of the game was set in the first period of play when Central went up on the scoreboard, 20-9. Paden City bounded back in the second, however, to cut into the visitors' lead and domination, putting the score at 39-26 at the half. An oppressive third quarter had the Green adding only two points to the scoreboard, but in the fourth, they outscored the Knights, 67-41.
Cain, again, led the home team in points scored with 17. He brought down six boards and had one assist. Geoffrey Bidwell accumulated eight points, two rebounds, two blocks, two assists; Pyles, six points, two rebounds, one steal; Heasley, five points, two rebounds, one block, one assist; Cross, two points; and Billiter pulled down four rebounds.
The 'Cats hope to extend their season on Thursday at home when they take on Calhoun County at 7 p.m.
