McDiffitts Celebrate 60th Anniversary

Norman and Helen McDiffitt

Norman and Helen McDiffitt of Rayland, Ohio, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Jan. 3. A small celebration was held with family at Lancelot’s in Wintersville, Ohio.

Norman is the son of the late Forrest and Lillian McDiffitt of Pine Grove. Helen is the daughter of the late Conley and Lola Parlier of Elizabethton, Tenn.

Norman and Helen met in Canton, Ohio, in 1952, where they fell in love and married.

Norman and Helen are the proud parents of six children: Dinah Keyser of Bloomingdale, Ohio; Jodette Gallagher of Marion, Ill.; Brenda Burwell of Canton, Ohio; Jeff McDiffitt of Akron, Ohio; Chris McDiffitt of Rayland, Ohio; and Kevin McDiffitt of Columbus, Ohio. Norman and Helen enjoy their nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Norman is a veteran of the Army during the Korean War and retired from Ohio Valley Gas Company after 30 years of service. Helen is a retired homemaker, baker, and canning guru

Over the years, Norman and Helen have enjoyed traveling, camping, hunting, and gardening. Helen has a published cookbook of her most treasured recipes and placed second in the Herald Star Recipe Contest this past year. Norman gives advice and stories when the “boys” come home to hunt. Both are avid readers and belong to the Brilliant Library, where Helen attends the weekly book club.
