New Martinsville School was put on lock down Friday afternoon out of precaution following an apparent break-in at a nearby home.
New Martinsville Police Chief Tim Cecil said an individual had entered a residence on Victor Street in New Martinsville around noon in the search for pills and money, after which the unidentified subject fled the home and was tracked moving toward the grade school, prompting authorities to put the school on lock down. "It was done out of precaution for the kids," Chief Cecil stressed.
No weapons were involved and only a check was retrieved from the home. The incident remains under investigation as police continue to look for the individual.
