To the Editor:
West Virginia voters: I'm reaching out to you with a Christmas wish, hoping you'll shine that powerful, electorate, light of yours on my jailer's dark heart, and encourage him to open up his prison gates to visitors in the spirit of Christmas. Jesus said: "I was in prison and you visited me..." (Matthew 25:36).
My mom was a Sunday School teacher for 50 years, and even though Alzheimer's appears to be muddling with her memory, she still remembers her 1958 mutant son and prisoner no. 10971. And she still wants to visit me.
But if you're just not into helping a socially-challenged soul (like I am), consider doing something just because it's the right thing to do. Tell Governor Earl Ray Tomblin that it's not okay (it's wrong) to use visitors to punish prisoners.
