Allens Mark Their 50th Anniversary

Tom and Suzy Allen of New Martinsville will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house reception given by their children at 6 p.m., Dec. 30, at the Spieler’s Club in Proctor. The couple requests no gifts, only the presence of the many friends they have made over their years together.

The couple was married Dec. 2, 1961 in Ripley, W. Va. Tom served in the US Navy from 1959 to 1963 and was among the first crew to be aboard the USS Luce DLG-7 when it was christened in 1961. They later moved to New Martinsville where Tom was employed at Bayer for 36 years.

Suzy served as home economics program assistant for the WVU Extension Service in Wetzel County for 10 years and as an interviewer for the West Virginia Bureau of Employment Programs for 13 years.

Tom is the son of the late Doniver and Marjorie Roush Allen of Ravenswood, W.Va. Suzy is the daughter of the late Harry and Nannie Smith Harper of Ripley, W.Va.

Their children are Katrina Cox of Goose Creek, SC; Melissa (Jeff) Hall of Oswego, Ill.; and Tommy of Loveland, Ohio. Their grandchildren are Stephenie (Kevin) Chester and Kayla Cox of Goose Creek, Jessa and Parker Hall of Oswego, and Amber and Laurel Allen of Loveland. Their great-grandchildren, Kevin Jr. and Riliegh of Goose Creek, complete the family circle.
