Kinchen Feeds Off Eagles

Rogalski And Keller Close In On School Record

October 5, 2011
By Bruce Crawford , Wetzel Chronicle

Monroe Central's Tyler Kinchen ruined the Blue Eagles' homecoming night, all most by himself. He carried the pigskin 22 of the 'Noles' 44 totes for 199 yards and two touchdowns. He also was 5-9 from the quarterback spot for 84 yards and two more touchdowns. In addition, he recovered an onside kick that also resulted in another Seminole score to lead Monroe Central to a 40-24 victory over Magnolia Oct. 1 at Alumni Field.

Late in the first period, the Seminoles got on the scoreboard first when Kinchen connected on a 32-yard scoring strike over the middle, and pushed its advantage to 14-0 on a 25-yard scamper.

But, Magnolia trimmed the lead to 20-12 by halftime, thanks to a pair of scoring tosses from Tanner Hanna to Stephen Rogalski and Ryan Walton. At the break, the Eagles crowned Ashtin Zajdowicz as their 2011 Homecoming Queen.

When play resumed, Monroe Central wasted little time putting together a pair of quick scores to take a comfortable 34-12 lead.

However, the never-say-die Blue Eagles capped off an impressive drive with a Jayson Keller three-yard touchdown run in the fourth period. Magnolia's Hanna tossed a backwards pass to Rogalski that fell incomplete. The Seminole defense stopped the pursuit, but the heads-up Rogalski scooped the ball up and rambled 29 yards to paydirt to cut into the 'Nole lead. Monroe Central added a late 18 yard touchdown run to end the scoring.

Kinchen accounted 199 of Central's 323 yards on 22 of Monroe's 44 carries and two TDs. He also converted 5-9 passes for 84 yards and a pair of touchdowns to lead Monroe Central.

Rogalski hauled in nine passes for 100 yards and a touchdown, while Nick Blatt hauled in three passes for 39 yards.

Keller caught six passes for 24 yards and a touchdown, while Walton hauled in one aerial for five yards and a score. Gage Deem also caught one pass for seven yards, while Grant Cain hauled in one Hanna pass for two yards.

The Blue Eagles will look to make history against the Weir Red Riders Oct. 7 at 7:30 p.m. at Alumni Field.
