From Tina Bennett

By Staff | Jul 20, 2011

From all the family of Erika Machelle Hank Bennett, we would like to extend many thanks for all the support over the past weekend for “Hankfest.” This festival was a benefit in honor of Erika to benefit a scholarship fund for Paden City High School, final expenses, and for the CSS Foundation.

Erika passed away Aug. 14, 2010, with a diagnosis of Churg-Strauss Syndrome, or CSS. CSS is an auto-immune disease in the family of RA, however in affecting joint tissue it affects tiny blood vessels in the lungs and other organs. Blood flow is restricted and the main symptoms are uncontrollable asthma and severe sinus or allergy-type symptoms. You can learn more about this disease by visiting www.cssassociation.org.

Our thanks go out to: The Eagles Club of Paden City; Carl Butcher, sound; Sarah “Carl” Nedley, organizer; Kat Butcher; every musician and band that gave so willingly of their time and talent; Paden City Tasty Freez; Sweet Pickens; Power Country 104; Premier Designs; The Tin Ceiling; Minna’s Nails; Ed Kinney, chain saw artist; and all friends and family in the surrounding communities for donating food and help throughout the festival. Again, thank you for all the support, love, and memories of Erika, Hank, Lovey, Bennett, who is sadly missed and wonderfully remembered.
