I am writing this letter to advise individuals who may have family members interred in the Oak Forest Cemetery near the Wetzel-Monongalia County line that an application for construction and operation of a 1,372.28 acre coal refuse disposal facility has been made to the Department of Environmental Protection. The legal advertisement states that the permitted area would be within 100 feet of the cemetery.
In my opinion an industrial site encroaching this close to a cemetery is inappropriate and demonstrates a callous disregard to those of us who have family members interred at this cemetery. I am sure that the officers and directors of Wolfpen Knob Development Company, and the associated firms of Consolidation Coal Company and Terra Firma Company, would not be pleased to have a coal refuse disposal facility placed within 100 feet of the final resting place of their family members.
If you desire to protest this permit application your comments must be made in writing and directed to the Permit Supervisor of the Department of Environmental Protection at 105 South Railroad Street, Suite 301, Philippi, WV, 26416 by July 1, 2011. The correspondence should refer to Permit No. SMA 0-2013-09 and Wolfpen Knob Development Company.
