Wetzel Chronicle
Dear Editor:

We are relieved that the government did not shut down last weekend and our military will be paid.  Yet, the fact remains that the issue of funding Planned Parenthood has not been resolved, merely laid aside for another spending bill. Although a large segment of society must act against their consciences by funding abortions, the political leadership feels that it has the right and obligation to maintain that we do so. Although Planned Parenthood does provide non-abortion services, 97.6 percent of women going there are sold abortions. Despite its protests that abortion is only a small amount of its services, they have increased their number of abortions for 15 straight years. Mr. Martyn (March 30, in the Chronicle) is correct that Federal funding does not go directly to abortions, but Federal money frees other line items on PP’s budget, allowing a significant portion for that potent part of their services. Refer to Diane Strippel’s letter (March 23).

According to the National Association for the Repeal of Abortion Laws, “Medicaid-eligible women in states that exclude abortion coverage have abortion rates of about half of those women in states that fund abortion care.” Abortion care, what an oxymoron! God’s Law, medical science, and common sense all tell us that there is no such thing as abortion care for mother or child. Giving infanticide another name doesn’t change the facts.

How can we repel the seemingly overwhelming forces of Planned Parenthood and the uninformed choices of 1.2 million or more women every year, who actively solicit support using our money? It’s impossible without God and without God’s people to stand up and speak against those calling good evil and evil good. What is good is Life. Let each life conceived in every womb live to be the individual God Himself designed.

So we ask all those who ever cherished a baby and those who deeply regret the loss of a life by a wrong decision, come stand with us. On May 14, join us in front of the City Building in New Martinsville at 11:30 a.m. We’ll have the signs.

Walk with balloons, kids, babies in strollers, grandmas and grandfathers, or meet us at our destination, Bruce Park. We’ll have informative and inspirational speakers, music, and refreshments. Take a stand in front of God and everyone and show you care.

For information or post-abortion support call 304-455-6137.
