There is no magic wand that will instantly bring growth and prosperity in Wetzel County. If there was, we think surely it would have been waved over our area a long time ago.
That is exactly why public input and support is needed in this new effort sponsored by the Wetzel County Chamber of Commerce. This entity has contracted with Valley Ventures, Inc. to formulate a comprehensive Master Redevelopment Plan. It will target specific areas of New Martinsville.
While we don’t fully understand what this effort will entail, we do know that the regional business development organization has had success in the past and we hope that continues here. However, we’re sure the area will only get what it puts into it.
That is exactly why we hope there will be a good turnout at the public meeting Monday in the New Martinsville Council Chambers, city building. Not only will the meeting enlighten the public on what this might entail, it will hopefully spark some new, creative ideas and collaborative efforts.
The revitalization of New Martinsville and Wetzel County will not happen overnight and it will not happen without some effort, but it can happen. We believe it and we hope you do too, otherwise it is a lost cause.
We believe motivational speaker Joel Barker who said, “Vision without action is a dream. Action without vision is simply passing the time. Action with vision is making a positive difference.”
