Wests Celebrate Golden?Anniversary With Renewal

Linda McClain West and Thomas Claire West of Pine Grove celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a renewal of their vows at a Wedding Mass at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Mannington, W.Va., on Dec. 27, 2010, officiated by the Rev. Douglas Sutton.

They were united in marriage in the same church on Dec. 26, 1960, by the Rev. Albin Martis.

Linda was escorted down the aisle by her son, John West, to the arm of her uncle and godfather, Don Elliott, who had walked her down the aisle 50 years ago.

Johnathan West, grandson, was best man and Macy West, granddaughter, was maid of honor. Grandsons Chase West and Zachary West were groomsmen. Granddaughters Megan West, Martha West, Kathleen West, Cassidy West, and Lauren West were bridesmaids. Jamey West, granddaughter, and Baylie West, great-granddaughter, were flower girls.

Music was provided by John Tomaszewski of New Martinsville; Dr. James Mills of York, Pa.; and Rickie Huffman of Mannington, W.Va.

A dinner reception was held in the parish hall following the ceremony.

Linda is the daughter of the late Betty and Edgar McClain. She is a retired elementary school teacher from Short Line School in Reader.

Tom is the son of the late John and Louise West. He retired from Valley High School where he taught biology and was assistant principal. He is currently employed as a football coach at Valley.

Tom and Linda are the parents of five children. The family includes son John and his wife Martha of Harrisburg, Pa.; son Joe and his wife Jennifer of Fredricksburg, Va.; daughters Dawn and Diane West of Morgantown, W.Va.; and son Jim and his wife Levaun of Reader. They have 10 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
