Always Busy

September 21, 2010
Wetzel Chronicle

It seems like we're always busy. . . 24/7/365. I bet you know the feeling. There is always something to do or somewhere to go, or both. We are pulled different directions so much that sometimes we simply feel like pulling out our hair. Well, at least I do, and I bet many of you do too.

Some of the business is work-related. Some is over commitment to various people, groups, or causes. And sometimes it's just a factor of too much fun to be had.

This time of the year, almost to be equaled to spring, is one of the busiest, I think.

Joellen and Daniel enjoy a ride at Kennywood while making memories.

Everyone is rushing around trying to squeeze the last bit of sunshine into their lives before the cold, snowy weather sets in. We're also busy with fall sports such as soccer, golf, cross country, volleyball, and, in particular, the king of fall sports--football.

Local football consumes many Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights while college and professional football can be seen on television virtually any time. And if you're on a fantasy league, you must keep up with all the teams and players.

Whew! Life is busy!

But life is also what you make of it.

On Friday evening my sister Betsy said she had some tickets to Kennywood that would expire on Sunday.

When I asked Daniel if he wanted to go with us he said, "Why not?! I've got a million things to do, but why not?!"

That's the attitude I love to hear!

So we instantly gathered some family and headed north after church. The eight-people strong clan converged on the amusement park and had a great time. Sure, we didn't get home until about midnight. Yes, we could have used some more sleep that night. We definitely could have done some more productive things with our time, but then we wouldn't have those memories would we?
