The West Virginia Division of Highways advises motorists of two major road closures due to work on two structures affecting Wetzel County.
Effective Sunday, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., state Route 2 will be closed at milepost 0.41 miles north of the Marshall/Wetzel county line. This closure will be for eight hours, weather permitting. It is necessary to allow the contractor for Bayer Material Sciences, LLC, to remove an existing fully enclosed pedestrian bridge from across state Route 2. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes.
Effective Aug. 30 Country Route 17, Barker Road, in Wetzel County will be closed. The closure will be continuous until Dec. 1 at 5 p.m. The closure is required to allow the contractor to replace the Lemasters Bridge. Alternate routes will be Country Route 15, North Fork Road to West Virginia state route 20 to West Virginia state Route 7. This work is being performed by The Alan Stone Company of Cutler, Ohio, at the cost of $690,641.15.
