Wetzel County Sheriff James Hoskins has informed us that his department is concerned about phone calls being made to local residents that could be scams.
First, one caller says Medicare is paying for wheelchairs and gives some phone numbers for the recipients to call. Hoskins said the numbers are no longer working, indicating it was a scam.
Also, while still unconfirmed as real or scam, he is concerned about a company calling potential customers for security system installations.
He reminds residents that they should not give out any personal information unless they know it is to a legitimate company they have dealt with in the past.
And as always, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
