People who say there is nothing to do in Wetzel County certainly aren't looking very hard. Almost every weekend there are more things beckoning me and my attention than I can possibly attend.
This weekend was no different. Friday night was Vacation Bible School and program, then the Monroe County Relay for Life. I always enjoy the simplicity of the Jacksonburg Homecoming, but this year I had a wedding to attend that prevented my attendance there. Then Sunday I found a way to fit in watching the final performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream and then the music of Gary Eller and Scott Knickerbocker in the lovely garden at the New Martinsville United Methodist Church.
This final weekend event was probably crowned my favorite for many reasons. The setting was beautiful, the music was great, my daughter was happy, other family members attended, and they fed us pie and ice cream. Now what could possibly be the downfall of all that?
If you missed that entertainment gem, you're in luck. There is an opportunity to repeat, to some degree, that experience this Thursday as ArtsLink kicks off its coffeehouse series. I highly recommend attending. And if you're more inclined to listen to music in Paden City, their Music in the Park series will also be going on Thursday.
