CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — The winner of a $1 million lottery prize in West Virginia still hasn't come forward more than a week after the drawing.
The ticket matching five of the six numbers in the Dec. 18 Mega Millions drawing was sold at a 7-Eleven in Belle.
West Virginia Lottery spokesman Randy Burnside tells the Charleston Daily Mail (http://bit.ly/1btmETM ) it was the fifth $1 million winner sold in the state this year.
Burnside says winners are usually eager to collect their prize, but there are many possible reasons for the delay. He says the winner might be unaware that he or she has the winning ticket or might have lost it. Some winners seek financial advice before claiming their jackpot.
The winner has 180 days from the drawing date to claim the prize.
