W.Va. students arrested after threat investigation

SHADY SPRING, W.Va. (AP) — Two West Virginia high school students have been arrested after authorities say it appears they were planning an attack on their classmates.

The Raleigh County Sheriff's Office said Monday that the students from Shady Spring High School were taken into custody following a social media post on Dec. 1. Both were charged with making terroristic threats.

Media outlets report that police say they were apparently in the beginning stages when a parent noticed a threat and reported it to the school.

The threats made references to Columbine High School in Colorado, where two male students shot to death 12 fellow students and a teacher in the school in 1999.

The sheriff's department believes all the people involved in the incident have been apprehended. Both juveniles remain in custody.
