Guard members return to W.Va. from Africa tour

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (AP) — Nine members of a West Virginia Army National Guard unit have returned home from a tour of duty in Africa.

A ceremony was held Wednesday in Parkersburg for members of Detachment 28 (C-12) Operational Support Airlift Command. Five of the detachment's members attended the ceremony.

The guardsmen conducted 164 missions during their deployment. They spent more than nine months providing support to the AFRICOM theater in Djibouti, Africa.

First Lt. Michael Howard tells the Parkersburg News and Sentinel (http://bit.ly/IsVFBo ) that he's excited to be home with his family for Thanksgiving.
