Sentencing hearing set for W.Va. psychiatrist

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. (AP) — A Dec. 9 sentencing hearing is set for a Jefferson County psychiatrist convicted of misdemeanor sexual abuse.

Joseph Anthony Jurand of Shenandoah Junction pleaded guilty Sept. 30 in Jefferson County Circuit Court to third-degree sexual abuse.

Under a plea agreement, The Journal ( ) reports that the 61-year-old Jurand would receive a 90-day suspended sentence and five years' probation.

Jurand was accused of having inappropriate sexual contact with a 15-year-old girl in April 2012.
