CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — The Kanawha County school board says several parents who took part in a brawl after a middle school football game are barred from attending other sports events for the rest of the year.

The fight was last week after a game between Cedar Grove and Elk View middle schools.

WOWK-TV ( says parents stormed the field.

Assistant Superintendent Lou Maynus says the behavior is disturbing.

He cited board policy in noting that good sportsmanship is more important than victory, and behaving badly has consequences for both students and parents.

Maynus said the board is still investigating, and more punishments may be issued.

Cedar Grove's principal also said a police report will be filed.
