Child sex abuse trial set for W.Va. man

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. (AP) — A Mercer County man accused of sexually abusing two minors and possessing child pornography is facing trial in December.

A grand jury indictment charged 40-year-old John Spaulding with sexual assault and abuse and 50 counts of possession of material depicting minors in sexually explicit conduct.

The indictment accuses Spaulding of committing the offenses over a six-month period last year.

Prosecutor Scott Ash says the victims were 3 and 14.

The Bluefield Daily Telegraph ( reports Circuit Judge William Sadler set Spaulding's trial date for Dec. 10.
