Former W.Va. guard admits sex with inmate

October 16, 2013
Associated Press

GRAFTON, W.Va. (AP) — A former guard at Pruntytown Correctional Center has been spared a prison sentence after admitting she had sex with an inmate.

The Exponent Telegram (http://bit.ly/1aO93HX) reports that prosecutor John Bord said 36-year-old Amy M. Jones of Parsons was sentenced Wednesday. He said he recommended probation over a prison term of one to five years because Jones has no prior criminal record. Her attorney also agreed to the punishment.

Bord said Jones will still have to register as a sex offender for 10 years and will also have supervised release after she completes her probation.

Jones was dismissed in June from her job as a guard. The offense occurred in May.
