HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) — A city-owned barge in Huntington that's been leaking since early May will be removed soon.
Mayor Steve Williams tells The Herald-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/17oZWLm ) that the city has reached an agreement with Superior Marine of South Point, Ohio, to remove the barge from a marina at Harris Riverfront Park.
Williams says the barge will be removed after 10 houseboats docked at the marina are moved.
The city then plans to remove the docks and marina infrastructure and redevelop the riverfront.
The cost of keeping the barge afloat since May is expected to top $100,000.
