MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — The trustees of the University of South Alabama have named three finalists for president.
The three announced Friday are: Sheri Noren Everts, provost and vice president for academic affairs at Illinois State University; Jerome A. Gilbert, provost and executive vice president of Mississippi State University; and Dr. Arthur J. Ross III, dean of the School of Medicine at West Virginia University.
The trustees said a search committee narrowed the field from more than 130 people. The trustees say they plan to make a decision by late October.
Before then, the three candidates will visit the campus in Mobile. Gilbert is scheduled for Sept. 19, Everts for Sept. 26, and Ross for Oct. 3.
The new president will succeed Gordon Moulton, who retired July 1 after 15 years as president.
