CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (AP) — A West Virginia woman who shot and killed her 11-year-old grandson has been indicted on charges of involuntary manslaughter.
A Harrison County grand jury handed up the charge against 57-year-old Tina Owens on Wednesday.
William Andrew Owens died in Jarvisville one night in July when Tina Owens fired multiple shots from a .40-caliber handgun in the dark at suspected intruders.
Police say one bullet pierced the wall of the boy's bedroom 200 yards away and struck him in the chest as he lay in bed.
The boy had just finished the fifth grade at Salem Elementary School.
Harrison County Prosecutor Joe Shaffer tells the Exponent-Telegram (http://bit.ly/1ajInmK) he'll likely seek to have Tina Owens released on a personal recognizance bond when she appears for her arraignment in Clarksburg next week.
