We bought a home in July 2012 and paid 2800. in flood insurance as " full value".(Our neighbors were paying half of that.) This November, we received a letter stating we needed an elevation certificate and that our insurance would not be renewed without it. Today I received a phone call from our agent stating that the insurance coverage will be over 11,000! We can't pay that....but That's right America pay for 6 foreign countries for free from the NYS FEMA money with no budget cuts but call my mortgage! Yes it is the law that I must have flood insurance but that it will cost 11,000. The old saying "Who moved my cheese?" Really takes on new meaning.
