Free Lunch & Lecture

April 22, 2010 - Wetzel County Chamber of Commerce

WVNCC and the Chamber of Commerce have partnered to bring you a FREE lunch and lecture the last Friday of every month at noon in Room 110 at the college.  The lunch and lecture lasts approx. an hour and can cover a wide range of topics from social media (Tom Myslinsky did a superb job) to better relationships (last month's speaker was over-the-top and I can only hope he is brought back for an all day session).

On Friday, April 30, the topic is How to Write an Effective Press Release.  The speaker is Miranda Stokes and if you have been reading the Chronicle you are familiar with her talent.

And something for you to think about:  it is sometimes in volunteering our time to organizations that we improve our own marketplace skills.  Personally what I have learned from volunteering with the Relay for Life, the Chamber of Commerce, the new Convention & Visitors Bureau, and church has made me a better business person as well as a more well-rounded individual.

The Chamber of Commerce has a new public relations committee and is looking for a volunteer to help plan and write advertising for the various events and accomplishments through-out the year.

This FREE lunch and lecture just might be the path to get you started in a new career.  Lets do a little vision casting - you attend the lunch and lecture, discover you enjoy writing press releases, and since you enjoy what you've learned you volunteer to put your new skills to use.  As you are using what you've learned and improving by doing, suddenly your talent gets noticed.  (Remember, anything now in print is actually going to be available to a world-wide audience because so much of what is printed is now also on the internet.)   And before you know it you have a new career!   Possible?  Absolutely.  Overnight?  Not.

So make every effort to attend the FREE lunch & lectures and discover your new passion.  Call the chamber office at 304.455.3825 to reserve your spot today.
